Why thumb impressions get rejected
A smudged impression where the ridges have run together is the most common rejection, usually from too much ink or from moving while pressing down. Press once, firmly, and lift straight up. After that it is the crop: a photo of the whole sheet of paper leaves the thumb tiny inside a wide frame, so crop tight to a square around the impression before you resize to 20-50 KB.
